Mollard Suspended Five (5) Games

It was expected.

Jim Mollard out for the next five games. Here is the release from the MJHL:

OCN Blizzard's head coach, Jim Mollard received two (2) games for receiving a Gross Misconduct penalty and received three (3) games for receiving a Match penalty.  Both incidents above occurred during the game on October 27, 2012 versus the Swan Valley Stampeders.

What Happened?

From my view in the broadcast perch this is what I saw. Majority of the Mollard's explosion is the result of Magwood running Blizzard players but not willing to fight after his tussle with TJ (according to one of the Blizz players the asked him to fight later in the game but showed them a bandaged up hand and he said he was unwilling).

That seemed to have gotten under Mollards skin, also the fact that the Blizzard didn't respond by doing the same.

A few terrible calls here and there and Mollard blew up, yelled at Kirkup, yelled at the ref when he tried to calm him down then threw his glove on the ice when he got ejected.

I think a 5 game suspension is harsh, considering that's one less than half of what Marlin Murray got for throwing and hitting a ref javelin style with a stick. In essence assaulting a referee.

  5. We were sitting right there and although the glass limits what you hear it was more than obvious that Magwood did his job and got our guys flustered. I think he got everyone going. The ironic thing is that other than that, he isn't much use out on the ice and doesn't add much to Swan's game. After his fight with TJ it was obvious he wanted nothing to do with fighting him again and took his glove off to show that he had been taped. If we were playing our game and winning don't think we would have reacted the same. Swan seemed to do what they were told and kept after our top guys. Their last goal was at least 4 feet off side and no excuses we could have still beat them even with our lines mixed up. Just wasn't meant to be so tomorrow will be our time. Although fighting isn't a big part of Jr hockey any longer neither is running guys so I am pretty sure that OCN will set the tone at the GLMC and rest assure that Magwood will be a little nervous about Wednesday's bus ride and not because he's afraid of ghosts. Gonna be a gooder.
