Some of the younger guys who haven't seen alot of ice time what do you think will happen with them? It gets alot more difficult as we get closer to having our numbers cut. Can't wait for the game on Halloween. Go Blizz Go
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens with the younger players, there are a number of kids who are still able to go back and play midget hockey. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks leading up to the deadline.
DeleteDon't understand why so many 17's were kept out of camp, if only to cycle through 4th line (5 or so shifts some nites), if they are there to push others and compete for regular spots let them play and see what they can do. I see a lot of the same younger guys sitting in the stands alot, wouldn't it be more beneficial to them to maybe send them back to midget to play bigger roles there right out of camp, and not mess with them school wise etc..Just my thoughts...Looking forward these young guys if let go Dec 1st might not be interested in returning next fall. Just my thoughts. I have seen that quite a bit the last 3-4 years in OCN.
ReplyDeleteLast year we only had 1 guy that was 17 and he is still a major part of our team this year.(Gray) Looking around the league maybe 5% are 17 year olds so to make a Jr. A team at that age is not the norm. If these guys have a place to play, like midget maybe it is more beneficial for them to obtain more ice time and confidence but we don't know what the coaches plans are. I am sure they will do the right thing but we need to remember that they have a team to run. Some of us feel for the vets who are being cycled in and out of the lineup as they have earned a spot. Watching Swampy and Santorelli play with so much passion.....hard to be that guy who has to tell these young men that they are not in the lineup. Hard job....glad it isn't mine.
DeleteI listen to the game and as the same old, same old that OCN has to play the team plus three striped shirts. One comment was made that the Swan player was about six feet offside, but that is nothing new i have been watching and listening for about fifteen years and nothing has changed. As for Team West it's a joke that none of the Blizz were not selected it just goes to show that[//////] is alive and well, but that is okay OCN you young men will show Team West selecting committee what they really miss.
DeleteAgree 100%.
DeleteI can't comment on the coaching staff's thought process on having 2-3 95 born players on the team. I can tell you this, the Blizzard are the 5th ranked team in the country and have a record of 12-4-1, not really anything to complain about there. To boot, 21 of 25 guys are eligible to return next year. Scary thought.
ReplyDeleteDarn it...we forgot about the broadcast tonight...do you tape it Brad
DeleteThat is what these negative thinkers don't see. This is a young team for a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteNone of the comments are negative, they are realistic. Nothing stated toward any of the players. The coaches do a great job trying to keep these northern boys. The fans want to see our guys hang on and stick around as well but when you have a team like we have this year it is a little more difficult. As Brad and the poster stated they still have a year of midget as well as being APed, if it comes to that. Wednesday at GLMC will make for one very chilling Halloween.
DeleteBrad any chance you could post last nights sport report for the people that missed it.
ReplyDeleteYes I will do that later today.
