interesting comments by Derek reguarding trades. His philosophy on trades seems to have done a flip flop, he has gone from saying he won't trade away the teams future to saying he may have to trade a young guy to fill the hole up front. I would hate to see anybody like Bayer, Elmes, or Valiquette traded for a 20 year old.
I think at a certain point the move has to be made, and you know you'll have to give up a 94,95 player. The team has a large number of returning players for next season. But at a certain point you need to decide that "This is the year".
I agree, there is a hard balance to keep and it can't always be next year. This group of guys are no different than any other team they want to win a ring This Year. Maybe the only difference is that we have such a great group of players that this may be our year once again.
anybody care to make any guesses as to who Derek might be dealing with and which players may be involved. I wonder if a team like Estevan might be looking to move a guy like Cole Olson.
No point in trying to guess, there are over 110 teams in the CJHL, he could be making a move with any one of them. As he said it's tough to deal within the MJ right now so it could be from anywhere else.
i think you just have to took at which teams are sitting at the bottom of the standings in Alberta and Saskatchewan and go from there. I don't think he would trade one of our younger D men because we loose Bruyere, Ward Cardinal, and Cochrane due to age next year, Elmes will be a big piece to the puzzle next year.
Again, I don't know why you'd single out the AJ or SJ, Fontaine has made moves out of the CCHL already, I think the SI or the BC are both possibilities and many players from the MHL have come to the MJ this year.
