TJ will be out 2-3 weeks with a high ankle sprain.
Nice to have Derek speak publicly on how they have been shafted by the league on the scheduling. Next month the team has a stretch where they go on the road on the 16th and don't get another home game until the 30th and then hey get 1 home game and then on the road for 3 more. TJ out for 2 to 3 weeks is bad news and i hate to say it but i posted a while back on how serious the depth problem was and how bad it would get with a couple injuries to key players. Well it is happening, management let the teams record fool them into thinking they were better than they actually were. A team is only as good as it's the players at the botttom of it's depth chart and ours aren't very good. This on ice discipline thing isn't a joke anymore it's killing them tonight and it has to be addressed by the coaching staff soon. Unless there are some changes made this will be a 500' hockey club by the time they get TJ back.
ReplyDeleteSo here is a question. It took how long to come up with a GM... Could that be one of the issues why our schedule is brutal? We had nobody at the table to fight for our time home?
ReplyDeleteNow the good thing about that is we will obviously have a heck of a lot of hockey at home at somepoint in time. Now if they can play 500 hockey for a month then we really aren't going to be doing that bad if it's on the road.
And you are absolutely correct with depth and injuries. Now with Baptiste and Chief departure can't be classified as the same, but it sure as heck hurts the team. I just hope Derek starts making moves for the team not for the politics.
@HockeyFan, you're incorrect about fighting at the table. The league has hired an independent schedule maker for the last few years. Teams have zero input now.
DeleteAs for Baptiste and Chief, during today's broadcast Derek said that they will both be moved and he hopes to have something done by tomorrow.
@Bradley Karp.... Thanks for clarifying my "question" not my "statement" about the schedule. I wasn't aware how it worked. Had it been a Statement then yes I would have been incorrect.
DeleteI did hear the interview. This person he feels is going to compliment Dumais and TJ on the first line is an important tool no doubt. Somebody I feel he should have been looking for before Baptiste and Chief's departure. What do you think?
He was looking for that person before hand, Derek was trying to pull Waskewitch from Nipawin but the Hawks wanted too much. That was weeks ago.
DeleteThe blizzard were basically playing 4 forwards short last night, they have been missing a winger all season to play with TJ and Dumais, now they are missing TJ and then Baptiste and Chief walk so that puts them down 4 men right now and that's just too much for them to overcome. They will get stomped tonight in Portage and play a Wayway team that is on a winning streak and has improved alot lately. Bayer and Santorelli should be in the lineup every night and not being sat to make room for some of the local kids that should be in junior B. This game isn't rocket science and i don't know why Mollard didn't put Baptiste with Dumais and TJ where he would have fit perfectly and Santorelli with Cardinal and Chief but what does he do he puts Brady Constant who was a fourth liner in midget on the first line???? When he decides to give Santorelli a shot he puts him with McCinnis and Swampy who both should be playing with the storm. Bayer, Lathlin and Cameron should be kept together on the fourth line and given a little time to develope some chemistry.
ReplyDeleteI certainly agree with the last post, Baptiste deserved to be on the top line based on what he did in last years playoffs, and the syle of game he plays, physical and decent hands. We don't know if thats part of the reason he left of not..But Derrick is right 1 or 2 guys are not bigger than the team. To many other guys work to hard and would welcome playing every game...And there are a couple kids that are getting rotated through the lineup regularly that don't belong at this level. I think if they get a little more continuity with their lines it would be more beneficial.. Sometime to many bodies hanging around is not a good thing...
