Preview vs Neepawa

The Blizzard (19-7-2) will hit the road going south to Neepawa (6-16-2) for a match up with the worst team in the MJHL.

OCN will head south with Roger Tagoona already in town and Justin Waskewitch on his way this afternoon.

Waskewitch will play on Friday against Dauphin while Tagoona will be in the lineup on Sunday in Swan River as he still needs to serve a two game suspension for hitting from behind that he picked up in the SJHL.

The Blizzard are 2-1 against Neepawa this season with the lone loss coming on the road by a score of 4-3.

The Natives have scored the fewest goals this season and after trading away Justin Dalebozik their leading scorer is Brayden Cuthbert who has just 16 points.

Tonight's  match up will feature the two worst power play units in the MJHL. Neepawa clicks at 15.32% which is 10th in the league and OCN clicks at 13.91%.

On the flip side of the special teams battle OCN is tops in the league at 84.11% while Neepawa is 9th at 77.27%.

Will have the lineup a little later on today.

  1. Good luck tonight guys. You'll have many listeners for the win.

Are you going to put the interview with Derek on or will you wait until the first intermission?

  2. Do we need the roster down to 23 by December and then down to 21 by Jan 1st? It seems that we have a full roster of quality guy even the players who don't see the ice every night. A guy I completely forgot about was Tayler Santorelli, being out hurt and with the additionof all the new players, well going to be some tough decisions to make in the next little while. We are in such a great place with the number of return players for next year, the tough part will be in deciding what to do with them all this year. Heard that the team will be doing a cancer night, do you have any information on this Brad. Will be tuning in to 1240 at 7:15 tonight. OCN, OCN, OCN.

  3. how about a little more about your own sporting background...didn't you play hockey on a pond on the island of montreal?

  4. Good win guys. Listening to the game it appears as though we controlled most of the game outside a few sloppy minutes of hockey. Henry played very well with some key saves to keep the goose egg on the board for his first win. Good for him against his old team.

If Ward-Cardinal Tweeked his ankle again, would it not be best to sit him for another week or two? We have a lot of key games coming up in December against the Stampeders, Kings and Blues.

Looking forward to seeing Waskewitch and Lagoona play. Waskewitch may look a little lost out there tomorrow, but if his skill set is where it's described to be he should do well none the less.

  5. When is Gray coming back, it would be good to see how they are going to fit them all out there Valiquette, gray dumais tj waskewitch and grove baptiste tagoona chief cardinal petrino swampy and you still have Bayer, santorelli, brady constant, lathlin, Cammeron, fontaine and MaCinnes. Right now Bayer and one other guy fit because TJ and Gray are hurt, but that won't last for long. Super problem to have, but with 6 D and 2 goalies that makes for 27 players ????? can you say STORM

    1. Gray is still a bit away, he's started riding the bike for a bit now. Just waiting on clearance from the Blizz trainer.

  6. As an armchair coach this is what you do with the lines if there healthy
    TJ Grove Waskewitch
    Gray Dumais Valiquette
    Tagoona Baptiste Petrino
    Brady Cardinal Swampy

Cameron and Bayer as well as the players on B Cards rotate in the line-up
Santorelli and Chief I think are on B cards Lathlin and McInnis can also sign B cards so can Fontaine when they pick up another shutdown D-Man. Thats 5 guys on B cards and add a 7th D-Man with the 2 Tenders that should make 23, if my math is correct.

    1. Having some problems right now with my blogger and mixcloud accounts. Seems like the last two posts got deleted and Fontaine's interview got pulled off mixcloud. I'll have it back up later today.
