Northern Weekend Roundup

Better late then never, been a busy week so far.

NorMan Northstars

The Norman Northstars were able to come away with 2 out of a possible 4 points against the Yellowhead Chiefs this weekend. They dropped the first game 6-4, Blizzard prospect Lodie Ipeelie picked up two goals and an assist.

The Northstars came back with a win in the second game in shootouts thanks to a beauty by Blizzard prospect Brenden Barron. Ipeelie picked up a goal and two assists in that game as the Northstars were outshot 34-33.

They sit with a 4-8 record on the year good for second last in the East division.

NorMan Wild

The Norman Wild Picked up their first 2 points of the season on Saturday. They beat the Eastman Selects 6-3,but lost the second game Sunday morning 5-3. the wild go on the road this weekend with three games starting Friday night against the same Eastman Selects.

OCN Storm

The OCN Storm don't seem to be getting any better as the season progresses. They lost by 19-1 score last night to the St.Malo Warriors and fall to 0-13 on the season. The Storm also suffered three other losses this weekend by scores of 9-6 to Norway House, 8-0 to Ste. Rose and 8-1 to Arborg.

The NorMan Northstars had a tough opening weekend at home in Thompson. Losing their games to the Brandon WheatKings.

The Northstars finished last season with a 19-22-3 season finishing fourth in the East division. Head Coach Stu Cunningham thinks that with six returning defensemen and nine returning forwards that they can clinch a top three finish in the division. The Northstars will play in a tournament in Souris later this month before kicking off their regular season October 5th at home to the Brandon WheatKings.
