Gray would tie things up 40 seconds later but after that the little effort there was disappeared.
The Blizzard took the night off and it showed a 7-2 pounding by the Dauphin Kings.
Give the Kings credit, they took advantage of a sleepy Blizzard team early and often and put things in cruise control once the score was 4-1 just six minutes into the game.
Justin McDonald was fighting the puck hard and got the yank after allowing 4 goals on 10 shots.
Tyler Grove would score the other marker for the Blizzard.
Alex Henry filled in between the pipes and put on a good effort making 25 of 28 saves in relief.
Guillaume Naud put on a clinic in the offensive zone for the Kings and the Blizzard didn't help themselves by giving the Kings big guns numerous opportunities on the power play. Dauphin went 2 for 8 with the man advantage.
Here is Jim Mollard on the Murray GM post game show last night.

Just listened to Jim's interview and couldn't have said it any better. Effort just wasn't there last night and it was visible from every angle on the ice both in play and body language. If we got beat because we were the weaker team, no big deal, but we just gave up. Good lesson to learn and I am sure that the guys will be reminded today at practise what effort means. Two more games against Dauphin next week, I am sure we will see how OCN really is made of. Go Blizz Go
ReplyDeleteDunno....I have to Disagree ! Because it'can be so easily said than done !!! The Blizz team have alot of skill and talent. It is the coach profession to prepare and utilizing his team !! Let's remember that all players look up to their coaches !!! If we want a learning lesson to/from the players, then it should be done at practises.!!!!.....Every Games Different.....so let's get to work !
ReplyDeleteIf the Blizzard can not get motivated to beat a team that rode into their barn and beat them just a few games earlier then there is a problem. I hope coach Mollard skated them till they dropped today at practice.
ReplyDeleteBack in the days of Glen Watson and Kery Clarke when the team showed no motivation and lost an important game that they should have won, they paid a price. If it was at home they were not allowed to get undressed after the game, they recieved a half hour screaming tirade from the coach and then were marched back out onto the ice and skated laps until they couldnt stand up anymore! If they were on the road, they were not allowed to change and got the same screaming lecture then got to jog or run out of town with their equipment on and then get on the bus and change out of their equipment!
Seems like pretty harsh treatment and not saying this coach should use these tactics but in those days the Blizzard never lost 10 games all season. They came to every game motivated because they knew what would happen if they didn't.
We have three more games with the kings and if the same effort and lose again bad then i will agree with the other post ,but till that happens we have apretty strong team and we can skate with Dauphin's WHL team . This was a gam e the Blizz were not involve right from the start so pick up your ocn game and give them something to think about when you the blizz meet at them at home for the final meeting. We had two key players out of the lineup last night. With everybody healthy next friday give them hell.
ReplyDeletethey played the sh its against Winkler but Henry stood on his head, they could have been down 5-1 after the first period in that one as well. Mollard has a couple days to get his point across before the next game.
ReplyDeleteGood coaches will find ways to motivate their team. Let's not kid ourselves if one can't work with players. Then there is a problem !!
ReplyDeleteToo barbaric !....Letz b civilized !!! No sense turning blue.....be more effective practising how games are gonna be played !!! Plan Practise then Play have fun knowing what to do !......Don't ya think ?
ReplyDeleteSorry, agree with Mollard. It comes down to effort as they have the talent and can geat any of these teams but when they play for 60 minutes. Doesn't matter what team they play they need to keep that effort consistant. Perhaps the guys wearing letters need to be talking a little more too, who knows?
