Baptiste and Chief to return

The Blizzard have re-acquired the rights to D/F Kolton Baptiste from the Lloydminster Bobcats. Along with Baptiste, Kirk Chief will be making his return to the Blizzard.

Baptiste was traded to Lloydminster on October 16th for Jack Petrino and Parker Sharp.

Baptiste will bring back some depth at forward as will Chief as the Blizzard seem to have their shutdown unit intact once again. Personally I think Parker Sharp would be a good fit there with those two.

Baptiste had been released by Lloydminster about one week ago.

They are expected back in town today or tomorrow and might be available for Friday's game versus Virden.

  1. Well an interesting turn of events here no doubt.

It's unfortunate for Lloyd that Baptiste didn't turn out for them. I will have to assume he didn't fit the Lloyd mold and didn't want to play anywhere but here in OCN.

I hope it's not an attitude issue and is going to bring that back to OCN as there is no room for that.

I would like to think he'll come back humbled and wanting to show the fans that he's back and this is what he will now bring to the team. Which is speed, grit and in your face hockey.

    Welcome back guys

    Go bliz go

  2. So who gets released to make room, team has a lot of extra guys around right now. These guys will help if they come back with the right attitude, don't know if i agree with bringing 2 guys back that quit on the team once already though.

    1. My understanding is that the Blizzard will use a couple of their Jr.B cards with the Storm. I think players would only have to miss a handful of games.

    2. No Dought these boys made a big mistake going MIA from the team, but we do need to remember that they are just "boys". I am sure Derek was more than clear when he allowed them to return, As for room on the team, like everywhere else numbers will work themselves out. Having a Jr B team good or bad is a great asset to keep some of these boys close. I just hope the team does the right thing with the boys that could be getting big minutes at the AAA level versus watching here at this level. Lets face it, we are 13 -6, swan is 10-5 and dauphin is right there as well. We need to continue to build our depth to continue to stay in the hunt.

  3. What do you mean when you say they will use a couple of their juniorbcards. How does that work.

  4. that's when trouble starts, when you have too many players around and guys that should be playing every night are sat so guys that shouldn't be here can play. Put these guys on a Storm card and let them play there and practise with the Blizz and when injuries happen then bring them up. Are the Storm even going to be around in a week?

    1. Yes, that is true. Mollard has taken a position as the leader of the CCCP within the Soviet Army. LOL it's the unofficial, the only truth on that site is that people need to work on their grammar.

  8. I think once you AP you can only play 10 games the rest of the season and then unlimited when the Storm season is over

  11. I'm tired of people saying "they are just boys". Are you saying at that age of 20 and 19 they don't know what responsibility is, team commitment, ethics and integrity? Maybe that is the problem of this generation. Too many excuses for their actions.

I realize what you are saying with a statement like that, but at that age they are young men not boys and should be accountable for their actions.

I'm not saying lets hang them by their feet, but lets not brush this off to age. As mentioned I"m sure they have been give a very strong warning and will be put on a short leash. And rightly so.

I hope they realize this and learn from it.

    1. But the truth is they are just young men. We don't know the complete story to their departure, and there is no need for us toknow it all. They made a poor choice and Derek, the coaching staff, and team must have good reason to bring them back, and want them back on the team. 20, 30 or older we still make choices that may be against our character, just glad that the one or two screw ups don't depict us for who we are not. Go Blizz Go.
