Lineup vs Dauphin

First start with news concerning the roster.

Kolton Baptiste and Kirk Chief have decided to leave the team for personal reasons.

Here is tonight's lineup.

Forwards

15 Dumais / 19 TJ Constant / 10 Cardinal
16 Grove / 11 Valiquette / 25 Gray
9 Lathlin / 23 Santorelli / 28 Swampy
26 MacInnis / 8 Cameron / 12 B.Constant

Defensemen

4 Elmes / 5 Ward-Cardinal
7 Bruyere / 17 Cochrane
3 Dusik / 20 Kavanaugh

Goaltenders

30 McDonald
33 Henry

McDonald gets his second start in a row, it looks like this way he plays Winnipeg on Saturday.

With his numbers he'll probably get the tougher starts, although Henry is certainly no slouch. OCN is lucky to have the two best goalies in the league early on.

  2. That's all they're giving me. Personal reasons, no length of time.

  3. That's 2/3 of a pretty good third line gone, we were already short a foward to play with Constant and Dumais. I still don't understand the reasoning behind playing a rookie on the first line through the first 8 games when they had a guy like Santorelli sitting out and any of the third line guys were more than capable of playing there. We have 6 D men which means we need another guy there also. Fontaine is going to have to do somthing soon so the great start the team is off to is not wasted. I would say the lack of depth is a real big problem that needs to be addressed soon before it bites them in the ass.

    1. Let Fontaine do his job. He is at the office day in and day out looking for guys to fill these holes. We ar 8 and 1, I could understand if it was the other way around. Kinda knew that it would only be a matter of time until Brad's blog would attract the nah sayers again just didn't realize it would happen when we were on a winning streak.

  4. So far Stagg, Bigplume, Baptiste and Chief have left, my question is why? How long before Bayer leaves, he lead his team in scoring last year with 44pts. and Bryce McCinnis who had 2pts. in the same league is playing ahead of him. Brad you watched Eddie play all last year and know what he can do can you see any reason for this? Despite the teams record right now this team is only an injury or two away from disaster unless Fontaine can go out and get a couple of qualituy players. I don't even know how he's gonna do it because he's pretty much tradedaway all his list kids from the southern part of the province.

  5. The season is going to be a disaster just wait. Fontaine can't get better players because he doesn't know a thing about scouting/recruiting/building/drafting. Getting the 2 goalies were good moves but I question Dumais already. Great talent but always in the penalty box. I can't see the Blizzard list but I know I've heard that many good kids were simply dealt so he could get the list loaded with many kids that are far from Junior A calibre.

  6. I really don't understand the concern about Eddie or any of these rookies. Yes the key word here is rookie people. All these comments about Eddie put pressure on him, if he or his family read this. Don't spoil this experience for him or any of these kids, they know what their role is on this team and right now we are 8 and 1. There is alot of hockey ahead and if you ask some of our guys they will tell you the same story or similar when they were in their rookie years. I am sure that some of these kids had an option of whether to play Jr B, or for those who still had a year left in midget to finish it off, and were no doubt told what their role was going to be this year. All of our rookies are doing well and it has only been 9 games with what,50 some left. Go Blizz Go.

  7. This is ridiculous. They're 8-1 and you're all bitching and moaning. Go to the unofficial. Sure there are holes that need to be filled, and I'm sure efforts will be made to fill them. As for Bigplume and Stagg neither was good enough to stick with the club plus Bigplume was an import.

Also let's not deal in rumours, don't come on here and comment that "if the rumours are true Santorelli is gone too". How about we deal in facts, the fact is Santorelli played last night and did a good job centering that third line and was also put out in the dying seconds of the game with TJ and Dumais to hold onto a 1 goal lead with a faceoff in the defensive zone.

Anymore dumb comments like many of those above and I'll simply just start moderating them.

Hate to see how nasty you all get when the team is losing.

  8. And as for Bayer, Eddie has been sick for the last few games and hasn't even skated since mid-last week. That's why he wasn't at the showcase and didn't play yesterday. Yes I saw him play in NorMan plenty, he's a natural offensive player and can find the net.

  9. Why are players walking out on a 8-1 first place hckey club then?

  10. Hey Brad do you have any idea when they announce who from the 40 list of prospects go to the prospect camp in Calgary for the World Jrs? I think you are doing a great job on the radio as well as the blog. Thanks!

    1. Thanks for the kind words, not too sure when they pick who is going to Calgary. I'm pretty sure they pick 10 players from the MJ,SJ,AJ and BCHL. When I know I'll let everyone know on here.

  11. This is the crap that Smalley has been putting with for years. They can not find the good in a game whatsoever. They are not used to giving compliments whereas being negative comes naturally to them.

I suggest you just not fall into thier little games. Set the rules and hold each person accountable to them.

If you want to be negative then one should provide two positives for each negative. It's not hard to do folks. As was mentioned if you want to contribute to rumours then jump on the unofficial site, as you be overwelmed with negativitiy there.

I've gottend texts from those from several communities asking WTF is the Blizzard doing different then last year... so the Blizzard being recognized and obviously have surprised a few teams out there.

The negative I must say is the schedule sucks, I dont' agree with 3 weeks of no hockey. If anything Dauphin should have been in OCN yesterday.

Hope Baptiste and Chief come back soon...

  12. No other team in the MJHL has a schedule as bad as OCN's. How are kids supposed to go to school or hods a part time job. They should't have to travel any further than Swan during the week and when they do have to travel during the week it should be during weeks when they play at home.

    1. As a fan, I would actually be pretty happy with how the schedule is, especially with how the Blizzard are playing. They get all the three game road trips out of the way now when the weather is nice and they're WINNING. Which means points in the bank for later this year. They're at home practically all of January and February. They'd rather be home when it's -40 and blowing snow on the 10 & 6 then on the road. This is a good schedule.

  13. That is a good point about the schedule but there's 5 reasons why it isn't a good schedule for every reason you can find that is good about it.
